Nancy Karigithu is Kenya’s Ambassador and Special Envoy for Shipping and Blue Economy, where her initiatives have been significant in opening up opportunities for women in maritime procurement and logistics.
As an Advisor and Ambassador for Blue Economy, she works with the Executive Office of the President and the Government of Kenya to formulate and implement policies and strategies that promote the sustainable development and management of Kenya's marine resources and coastal areas. She also represent Kenya in regional and international forums and initiatives on maritime affairs, such as the Indian Ocean Rim Association and the African Union.
With 37 years of experience in the maritime sector, she has a proven track record of leadership, innovation, and advocacy in maritime administration, regulation, and cooperation. She successfully led and managed various organizations and projects, such as the Kenya Maritime Authority, the Association for Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern & Western Africa, and the Technical Cooperation Committee of the International Maritime Organization.
She has also contributed to advancing maritime law, education, and research, as a Master of Laws graduate, a Board Member of the World Maritime University, and a published author and speaker. Her mission is to harness the potential of the blue economy for Kenya's socio-economic transformation and environmental conservation.
