Elizabeth Obanda is a prominent Women Economic Empowerment Analyst and Team Lead at UN Women. She holds an MA in Education, Gender & International Development from the Institute of Education, London University, Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management, a BSc in Food Science and Postharvest Technology, and a Diploma in Applied Science/Food Processing from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Ms. Obanda has previously worked with the Aga Khan Foundation where she was the Head of the Aga Khan Foundations Rural Development sector covering Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Her work entailed building capacity in aspects of production, climate change, and developing market linkages with over 200,000 smallholder farmers.

Further, she has consulted with and successfully developed a proposal for the UN’s Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Rural Women Economic Empowerment aims at addressing poverty, food security, and nutrition in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. She has also consulted for UN Women Kenya as a Gender Advisor, Agri-finance and for Vi Agroforestry in assessing the participation of in and out of school youth, in agroforestry.

Her expertise and advocacy work have contributed to the development of numerous programs that uplift women economically, ensuring their representation and participation in procurement and supply chain roles.
